If you experience symptoms such as headaches, increased hunger, irritability, anxiety, shakiness, numbness, tingling, burning sensations, confusion, agitation, paranoia, memory problems, or suicidal thoughts, stop taking the medication immediately and contact your healthcare provider.
There is also a risk of tendon swelling or tearing associated with gemifloxacin use. If you notice sudden pain, swelling, bruising, tenderness, stiffness, or limited mobility in any joints, cease the medication and seek medical help right away.
Consult Your Healthcare Provider Before Taking Gemifloxacin (Factive)
Do not take this medication if you are allergic to gemifloxacin or any other fluoroquinolones (such as ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, etc.).
Be aware that gemifloxacin carries a risk of tendon swelling or tearing, particularly of the Achilles tendon. This risk can occur during treatment or even months after stopping the medication. Tendon-related complications are more common in individuals over 60, those taking steroid medications, or patients who have had kidney, heart, or lung transplants.
Inform your doctor if you have a history of: - Tendon problems, arthritis, or joint issues - Diabetes - Muscle or nerve disorders such as myasthenia gravis - Slow heart rhythms or arrhythmias (especially if treated with medication) - Long QT syndrome (personal or family history) - Difficulty swallowing pills - Liver or kidney disorders - Epilepsy or seizure disorders - Low magnesium or potassium levels in the blood
The effects of gemifloxacin during pregnancy are not yet fully understood. If you are pregnant, please inform your healthcare provider. Additionally, avoid breastfeeding while taking gemifloxacin.
